The Hiking Writer

. . . I happened upon a path that vanished into a wood on the edge of town.

Palin for GOP VP?

I’d have preferred Michael.

I have no problem with her gender, but she is a creationist and a pro-lifer. Pandering to the conservative right, I think this VP choice will hurt more than help the GOP campaign.

And even more New Pictures!

I finally got off my lazy tookas and posted some pics taken at West Baden Indiana back in June and
the rest of the Great Smoky Mountain pictures with my mom and sister.

The West Baden album is here. And the Smokies album from June is here.

New Pictures!

Haven’t gone hiking as much as I should this Summer, but I did taks some pictures over the last 2 weekends. The August 2008 album includes pictures from McCormick Creek State Park in Indiana and a Sunday morning stroll in the Blackacre Nature Preserve here in Jefferson County.

I got some great hummingbird photos, and a few new dragonflies I’d never photographed before. Enjoy the album August 2008.

Another icon of my youth is gone

Rest in peace, Shogun of  Harlem.

Sho Nuff is dead.  (Actor Julius Carry died Tuesday)

Phelps Olympics

All hail our new swimming overlord.

Set another world record in the 200M Individual Medley tonight.

As usual, made it look easy.

Wow.

Generation Kill

I’m definitely going to buy the series DVD when it comes out. If you haven’t watched or don’t know what it is, it’s an HBO miniseries (fiction) about soldiers in Iraq.

It’s realistic and a mess and very well acted. Check it out if you can.
